Clinical care

Care built around what cats communicate.

TANDEM Cat® uses body-centered observation, trauma-informed handling, and individualized care planning to reduce unnecessary escalation and respond earlier to changes in comfort, movement, coat, appetite, and participation.

Clinical grooming

Grooming is treated as a clinical interaction with the skin, coat, movement, claw health, comfort, and behavioral regulation of the whole cat—not as a cosmetic service.

Somatic observation

Posture, breathing, tension, stillness, mobility, coat response, appetite, and willingness to participate are treated as meaningful clinical information.

Trauma-informed handling

Care is organized to preserve choice, reduce sensory load, prevent avoidable restraint, and respond to the cat’s changing threshold throughout the interaction.

Continuity across care

Permanent Pet Profiles, records, care plans, and shared observations allow important information to follow the cat across grooming, boarding, transitions, and home care.

Clinical practice through Cats in the City

TANDEM Cat® methods are developed and applied within the feline-only care environment of Cats in the City.
