About TANDEM Cat®

A feline-centered framework for care, inquiry, and education.

TANDEM Cat® connects clinical grooming, somatic observation, trauma-informed care, longitudinal records, and real-world research into one coordinated model designed specifically around cats.

Origin

Developed inside feline-only practice.

The framework grew through Cats in the City, where grooming, boarding, rescue, rehoming, records, and complex care repeatedly showed the same need: cats require systems that notice the body earlier, reduce fragmentation, and preserve continuity across interactions.

TANDEM Cat® turns those observations into structured methods, care tools, research questions, and shared operational systems.

Core principles

What guides the work.

Observe first

Behavior is interpreted alongside physical and environmental context before care escalates.

Preserve agency

Care aims to retain choice, participation, and relational safety whenever possible.

Build continuity

Important information should follow the cat across settings rather than being recreated in isolation.

One framework. Multiple care settings.

The goal is not to make every workflow identical. It is to give each workflow the same dependable foundation underneath it.
